The spacious and light open kitchen is extremely well equipped with dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer & ice-maker, microwave, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine, drip coffeemaker, food processor, and all the small essentials. There is double level counter with 4 stools so you can chat with the chef or take a break.
The eat-in kitchen is divided from the open-plan dining and lounge areas by a bar where observers can sit, sip and converse....leaving the chef to be creative while still enjoying conversation. There is a four seat counter/dining area, perfect for breakfast or light meals.
With doors from the kitchen, the dining area and the lounge area all leading out to the terrace and garden, there's an abundance of light throughout the house.
Friday is market day in the streets of Eygalieres; Wednesday is market day throughout the nearby town of St. Rémy de Provence. Both are wonderful markets, both very different from each other and both well worth a visit. Once you see the great local produce available at the markets you will be happy to have such versatile cooking areas.
Situated on the ground floor of the house and with French windows leading the the terrace, pool and garden beyond, this en-suite bedroom offers a queen sized (160cm) bed, side tables, and reading lights. Ideal for the mobility impaired.
You can see how well-located the exterior sitting areas, the outdoor kitchen and the pool are to the main house. The green vegetation and lavender all over make it an especially enticing home.
Though the villa has both air con and a heated pool you must choose between them. Usually in summer guests prefer air con, since the pool heats up nicely, and with the pool cover used at night, there is not a lot of need for a heated pool. In cooler seasons the house can be heated at the same time that the pool is heated.
The designer landscaped gardens are a delight and with the backdrop of the nearby mountain range called 'Les Alpilles', this is man and nature in perfect harmony. You will find wide open spaces, complete privacy, a very inviting and friendly welcome.
The fragrant lavender adds a truly Provençal touch to this beautiful setting. The small village of Eygalières is a real jewel in the area. Though tiny, it has cafés, restaurants, food shops, and one of the best outdoor markets in Provence. This small village is home to well- heeled vacationers, as well as French film and tv stars and other high wattage glitterati. However the town has retained its old style, low-key ambiance, which is one reason it is so attractive to visitors.
Under the winding staircase you'll find the 'office' corner where a desk, chair, good lighting and an armchair are awaiting anyone who needs to bring their own computer and hook up to the wifi to keep in touch with the world!
The choice of outdoor areas to escape to is endless.
Whether it be under the covered terrace on the sofas and armchairs, or beneath the gentle shade of the pergola with a literally 'laid back' lounge chair and attitude ... you could spread a towel on the grass by the pool ... commune with nature, lap up the sunshine, fall in the pool when the going gets tough.
Lavender is the quintessential Provençal plant; if you are in the region between mid-June through mid-July a drive to see the lavender fields is an absolute must.
On the first floor you will find three en-suite bedrooms. Here is another queen (160cm) sized
bed with superb views over the Alpilles mountains. Excellent hanging and drawer space, bedside tables and reading lights.
The spacious L-shaped summer kitchen and dining area, shaded from the sun and open to the garden and views, is an excellent spot for al fresco dining, emailing photos to envious friends or enjoying the quiet of the early morning and your first coffee of the day. Just step out the kitchen door and you are there. If you are visiting during the cooler months, this is also a delightful, protected area that you can enjoy.
Here you get a close-up view of the outdoor kitchen with 4 burner cooktop, charcoal bbq, gas plancha, under counter fridge, double sink, and dinnerware. Inclement weather is of course no concern here since the area has a roof.
Les Baux-de-Provence produces wonderful olive oil, which many connoisseurs consider the best in France. Foodies will want to visit an olive oil mill or shop where you can taste different varieties of olives used in the oils. Nearby Mouriès produces great olive oil as well, as does Eygalières.
