The house, done in bright Provencal colors, is located on a quiet street, and surprisingly for a home in town, there is little noise.
Although it doesn't show on this photo, the front terrace is quite large, with rooms for lounge chairs and a table and chairs for doing. With the private garden and large pool, you will want to spend a lot of time outdoors.
The pool is 5m by 10m. There is a pool alarm; you can see the small black and white posts on each end of the pool.
St Rémy de Provence is perhaps the most beautiful small town in Provence. Post World War II, it was an agricultural area, specializing in flower seeds and sheep, but now is known as a sophisticated country town with some of the best Provence has to offer, and a wonderful, central location. It is also famous since Vincent van Gogh spent most of the last year of his life here, and painted over 150 paintings.
There are sites in St Remy that you may want to visit either with a guide or on your own: Glanum, very important Roman ruins; the Hotel Estrine, with reproductions of van Gogh’s art; rue Hoche, a tiny street where French-Jewish doctor and astronomer Nostradamus was born in 1503; a fountain to Nostradamus is on the rue Nostradamus, also in the center of town. There is a section of the medieval town with remaining “double ramparts,” with homes built inside the ramparts. Don’t forget the amazing Wednesday market which spreads out throughout the town, and the St Paul de Maussole Hospital.
Charming villa in the town of St Remy, sleeping 6.
La Farandole is a bright, compact and delightful one story Provencal home within walking distance of the center of the popular and beautiful town of St-Rémy-de-Provence. La Farandole is quiet and private but is only a few blocks to the center of the well-known Alpilles village--literally less than 5 minutes to the nearest café.
The property consists of a large terrace, a huge yard, and a large pool. The house has three bedrooms, two baths, a well-equipped kitchen, a charming dining room, and a stylish and comfortable living room. Lots of windows bring in the sunshine and views. The house is stylish and pristine.
It's a short, easy walk to the very popular Provencal village, where you'll find the huge weekly market on Wednesday morning, with an incredible variety of foods, crafts, antiques. The town is also an easy stroll for morning coffee and croissants or an evening film (once a week in English!) and dinner. Despite La Farandole’s wonderful access to town, the house is sequestered, private and quiet.
This is the perfect villa for a summer holiday in Provence!
One or two (max) well behaved dogs are welcome but this should be discussed with owner prior to booking.
