The inviting 17 x 6 metre pool is totally enclosed, property and pool house/summer kitchen to two sides, mature garden to the rest. Although the garden is well grown, you still enjoy the beautiful views over the pine covered hills to the south.
There is a separate garden within the grounds. It is laid to grass and dotted with olive trees. It's a 5 minute walk into Peypin d'Aigues where you will find a bar/restaurant and a boulangerie. It is a 10 minute drive to Pertuis for a large grocery store.
Local outdoor Provençal markets are held in many nearby villages: Tour d'Aigues, Cucuron, and Gordes on Tuesday; Pertuis on Wed and Sat; Lourmarin on Friday; Cadenet on Monday; Aix-en-Provence on Tues, Thurs and Sat.
The pool (17 * 6 m) is is approximately 3-4 metres in the deep end and 1 metre in the shallow end, not counting the shallow end Roman steps. There is not a cover to the pool but there is a child proof sonic barrier around the pool.
For those who love outdoor activities, drive a bit east towards Manosque. South of Manosque are the famous « Gorges de Verdon » the « Grand Canyon of France » ; you can go swimming, hiking, canoeing, or just drive and enjoy the scenery. Just south of the western end of the gorge you can watch the gliders fly out of Vinon-sur-Verdon, which has the largest gliding club and training centre in France.
To the head of the pool you have the spacious summer house which is also a fully equipped summer kitchen. As well as the American fridge with ice machine there is an electric oven, gas and electric hob, gas barbecue, dish washer, microwave and sink.
The summer kitchen is fantastic if you have small children in your party. The pool is literally yards away so the adults can prepare bites whilst keeping their eyes on the little ones. There is of course an alarm system around the pool which complies with European norms, but there's no substitute for adult supervision.
The picturesque hilltop village of Grandbois some 4 kilometres from Peypin d'Aigues.
For those who love excellent French food, Grambois has a one star Michelin restaurant, L'Auberge des Tilleuls, which serves very good French food at reasonable prices, and with generally good service. There is a terrace for summer dining, and a fireplace indoors for winter.
Another "must" in the area is "L'Art Glacier," an artisan ice cream parlor in the countryside between Tour dAigues and Ansouis.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the elements you would expect to find in a property finished to a very high standard, including an extending table capable of seating 8 people. Appliances are Bosch, including a 4 burner induction cook-top; a frig/freezer; there are several different coffee makers and other small appliances.
The living areas at Villa Hélѐne are found on the first floor. Between the kitchen and the sitting room area you have this dining table which can sit 6 people comfortably. You are unlikely to choose to eat at this table however when you consider the 8 seater alfresco table overlooking the garden and pool, with its wonderful views, or the equally spacious table located in the summer kitchen next to the pool.
If you walk straight ahead to the sitting rooms, the double doors take you to the wrap-around terrace and outdoor dining area.
The master bedroom is found on the ground floor, accessed by two sets of French windows as well as the conventional interior passage. The bed is a king size (180cm) and the room enjoys its own dressing room and en-suite bathroom (pictured below). Accessories such as hair dryers are also available at the house.
