Market Day in Caromb is Tuesday mornings and is a small local affair. Independent producers bring their local produce,
which includes goats cheese, olives, figs, cherries, tomatoes, Cavaillon melon, olive oils and much more.

With just over 3,000 inhabitants, Caromb is a charming and neat village, with a vibrant, open and sunny Provençal feeling,
the buildings being well restored and lived-in. You’ll discover a very friendly local community.

Caromb is endowed with one of the largest Romanesque churches in the Vaucluse: the church of Saint Maurice, erected in the 14th century
and listed as a historical monument in 1849. It houses numerous masterpieces, notably the triptych by Grabuset, the tomb of
Etienne de Vaesc (died 1501) and a baroque style Italian organ dating from 1701, which has been restored and is in working order.
The unique bell tower is a large hexagon with a variety of differently sized bells in each of the eight high arches.

Provence Emotional Escapes offers a selection of luxury villa rentals within walking distance of Caromb or in the centre of the village itself.

Lac du Paty is a privileged holiday spot for the locals who love to swim, fish, picnic and enjoy the hiking trails in
the surrounding area. In fact Lac du Paty is a dam, created during the mid 1700's, it has, over the centuries,
enhanced the quality of life for the neighbouring farms and villages alike. Originally used for agriculture as well
as pleasure, Lac du Paty is a five minute drive from Caromb, or a 30 minute walk through spectacular woodland and vines.

Hiking paths go off in all directions from the lake, and many of the paths are sign posted. A couple of marked trails branch
off from roads north and north-east of Caromb to go through the woods up onto the slopes of the Mont Ventoux.

____________

The Ventoux region includes many charming villages, often perched on hill tops with their traditional winding streets and ancient buildings. Within minutes of Caromb for example you have Le Barroux, Crillon-le-Brave and Suzette. But you will also find important market towns such as Carpentras and Vaison-la-Romaine which are full of historical monuments and colourful market stands.

With their notched, alternating peaks and hollows, they resemble a finely crafted work of embroidery. The term ‘Montmirail’ comes from the Latin Mons Mirabilis,
in other words "mount that is seen from afar". Who would think of challenging this quality to our Lace?

The Dentelles de Montmirail covering 12 kilometres by 9, consists of three sets of stunning cliffs known as le Grand Montmirail and Clapis,
Sarrasines lace and the Grand Travers, offering more than 600 climbing routes. A paradise for climbers.
