Centrally located in the heart of Caromb, the house is a few seconds walk from the boulangerie for morning croissants, plus all the other shops in the village and several restaurants and bars. However, the house feels very private and there was no issue with noise. The terrace is lovely and the gate down to the rest of the garden can be kept closed if you have small children to contain! We couldn't fault anything with the villa - a very enjoyable holiday!! Close

The ... Read more shaded area by the pool is great, as are the other two wooden areas in the gardens. The house was beautifully decorated and generally well equipped. This properly offers both a great location to explore the area (which has so much to offer), but also to take the opportunity to simply chill out and relax. Make sure you have stocked up on Saturday, as we really struggled to find open shops on the Sunday! We will hopefully visit again in the future.

It was beyond perfect! The rooms were large and beautiful and immaculate. The views are indescribable! The pool area is the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake and icing, we were lucky enough to arrange for a chef to do all the dinnertime cookin.. That turned out to be the highlight of the whole experience. Three course dinners - French, of course - that were perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, nicely served, and always topped with a desert that delighted and excited.

The surroundings are lovely with several small towns nearby among the most beautiful I've ever seen. Andrew was on hand and very helpful when we needed a sticking door oiled up or additional instructions on pool or gate maintenance. Don't forget to ask the two of them for bakery and market recommendations.

There aren't that many travel experiences in my life where every high expectation was met or exceeded. This one is now at the top of that list. Close

All of the facilities were of a very high standard, with... Read more the property and grounds very well maintained by Daniel and Mireille, who were friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were presented very well and the air-con in the main three rooms made life very easy on the occasional stuffy night. For a full party (15) I would have thought an additional fridge in the main house would have been a worthwhile addition, if only to chill the vast quantities of Rosé wine that have to be consumed when in the Alpilles area. It would also be helpful to have a BBQ a little closer to the house.

The house is well placed for Eygalières (little to do, but plenty of restaurants - we went to three and the quality of the food was great), Cavaillon (a bit of the same, but much bigger, and where would highly recommend a meal at Prévôt). Aix is a 40 minute drive away, but easily accessible and a lovely town. St Rémy is also very nice (but we prefer it when the market is not on, as it is absolutely packed then).

There is a very good local taxi firm, who we found to be extremely reliable (0033 680 323 673) and the local boulangerie is extremely good and open seven days a week.

This is our third visit to the area and was our most enjoyable - I'd highly recommend it. Close

This is a splendid property. The photographs on the web site do not exaggerate its attractiveness - indeed, they don't convey the full beauty of the 22 acre property planted with vineyards, olive tree... Read more s and lavender, or capture the full splendor of the views from its hilltop location. Our party included 18 members of three generations of our family, ranging from two to seventy years in age. It was perfect for everyone, with more than enough room inside and out for all to engage in whatever activity they wished, without stepping on one another's toes. We had expected the house would be a base for excursions in the area, and it was; but we'd underestimated the extent to which most of our group preferred simply to stay and enjoy the house and grounds.

No description of this property would be complete without reference to the resident property managers, Louise and Andrew Cross. Apart from being personally delightful, they maintain the property beautifully, are accommodating and responsive in every way, and Louise organised a superb chef for the two catered dinners we arranged during our too-short one-week stay.

We spent a delightful fortnight there for our honeymoon and would happily return.
The owner... Read more s arranged special decorations and flowers for us everywhere and couldn't have been more kind and helpful. We had arranged for a band to play there one evening and the setting was amazing.
We were eating cherrys off the trees everyday.
The facilities are excellent comfortable and with a feeling of luxury and there are also a couple of good restaurants nearby all in all brilliant!!

Mas l'Arlésienne review

We stayed in Mas l'Arlésienne from 7 June to 14 June 2014. We were a group of 7 adults and the comfort and spaciousness of the charming farmhouse added to the success of our holiday. We spent most of... Read more our days exploring St-Rémy-de-Provence, which is an easy fifteen minutes walk from the house and we also visited other towns like Le Baux-de-Provence, Arles, Aix-en-Provence and Avignon by car. We enjoyed visiting the Wednesday market at St Rémy where we bought fresh fruit, vegetables and Norwegian salmon to take "home" and we loved having supper at the outside table, with the view of the olive and cypress trees in the garden and in the distance, the limestone massif of Les Alpilles.

We were lucky enough to experience a magical full moon and it felt like we were looking at a Van Gogh painting with the cypress trees turning blue- back under the starry night. One of our highlights was a walk to the Clinique St Paul where Van Gogh spent time as a patient in 1889 after he cut his ear.

The 12th century cloisters, the lavender garden in the grounds and the many reproductions of Van Gogh's famous paintings, made this outing very special. It was always good to go home to our beautiful, french farmhouse after a long hot day and to cool off in pool and relax on the comfortable chairs with sundowners.

If we ever go back to Provence, Mas l'Arlésienne will be where we would love to stay again. Close
