The Bastide du Maréchal is a well-built, beautifully decorated and fully air-conditioned holiday home in St-Rémy-de-Provence, walking distance to the town centre.
The first floor has two bedrooms (a 160 cm queen, and another that can have either a queen mattress or twins) that share a large bathroom. The master bedroom, also on the first floor, has a 160 cm queen bed, a large bathroom with tub, large shower, sink and WC. The custom kitchen is eat-in, and is equipped with a large stove and oven, pantry, large frig; the laundry room is also on the ground floor. A lovely dining area with an antique walnut farm table and a large living room complete the ground floor.

There are 4 bedrooms; one on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The ground floor bedroom is part of an independent suite with a door leading to the patio. The bath is just outside the bedroom, and there is a small sofa bed --a bonus--in the hall, perfect for a single or nanny. There is a powder room near the kitchen.
The owner, a California architect and builder, designed the villa for his own use and rents it out when he is not in St Remy. It is very tastefully done; high-quality modern furniture is mixed with exquisite walnut antiques to combine a contemporary touch with elegance of a by-done age. Complete with whole house air conditioning you will feel very pampered here.

St-Rémy-de-Provence is perhaps the most beautiful small town in Provence. Post World War II, it was an agricultural area, specialising in flower seeds and sheep, but now is known as a sophisticated country town with some of the best local commerce Provence has to offer, and with a wonderful, central location.
There are many sites in St Rémy: the very important Roman ruins at Glanum; the rue Hoche, a tiny street where French-Jewish doctor and astronomer Nostradamus was born in 1503. Don’t forget the colourful Wednesday market which is well known all over Provence. Vincent van Gogh spent most of the last year of his life here, at the St.Paul de Maussole Clinic, and painted over 150 paintings.
