Villa Hélѐne is a hidden gem. This luxury holiday rental villa sits on the outskirts of the little village of Peypin d'Aigues some 15 kilometres north east of Pertuis. The villa comprises some 5,000 square metres, made up of cypress, olive and pine trees. Nestled in the centre of this mature, verdant area the property is almost hidden from view. Situated in the southern part of the Luberon, the villa is located just off the famous "Route des Châteaux"; here you can visit some of the most stunning chateaux in Provence. It is close to Aix-en-Provence and not far from the famous Gorges de Verdon, "The Grand Canyon of France". You can watch gliders fly out of Vinon-sur-Verdon, the site of France's largest gliding club and training centre. Also a bit to the east are the famous lavender fields of the Plateau de Valensole.

Villa Hélène is a two-story house, sleeping 10 people comfortably in 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The private pool is 17m x 6m and is totally enclosed. It measures 3 to 4 metres in the deep end and 1 metre in the shallow end, not counting the shallow-end Roman steps. There's no cover, but there is a child-proof sonic barrier around the pool. Dogs are welcome with prior notice and are thoughtfully provided with a kennel. The yard is gated and fenced. Villa Hélène is an ideal luxury villa rental for a family looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life for a week or two.
Peypin d'Aigues has a charming cafe/restaurant in the village which is approximately 300 yards from the house, so a very easy walk. Just at the bottom of the hill there's a boulangerie, pharmacy and a fresh fruit shop, but these are about a mile from the house. There's also a wine coop just round the corner.

Pertuis is a large, pleasant town on the rich plain of the Durance, at the southern edge of the Vaucluse. Called the "Porte du Luberon" due to its location at the southern limit of the Luberon, it's also known as the capital of the Pays d'Aigues.
Peypin d'Aigues is a very small Provençal village but it does have a boulangerie and a bar/restaurant. A little further afield (4 kms) you find the picturesque hilltop village of Grambois which has a cafe/bar, a Michelin starred restaurant, and a small mini-market where you can buy day-to-day provisions for your Provençal holiday. For larger shops and eating out you will find Tour d'Aigues 8 kilometres down the road. Pertuis (13kms) is the major commercial centre in the area which boasts two large supermarkets as well as a selection of bars and restaurants.

Close GalleryThe summer kitchen is fantastic if you have small children in your party. The pool is literally yards away so the adults can prepare bites whilst keeping their eyes on the little ones. There is of course an alarm system around the pool which complies with European norms, but there's no substitute for adult supervision.

Close GalleryThe kitchen is fully equipped with all the elements you would expect to find in a property finished to a very high standard, including an extending table capable of seating 8 people. Appliances are Bosch, including a 4 burner induction cook-top; a frig/freezer; there are several different coffee makers and other small appliances.
Close GalleryThe living areas at Villa Hélѐne are found on the first floor. Between the kitchen and the sitting room area you have this dining table which can sit 6 people comfortably. You are unlikely to choose to eat at this table however when you consider the 8 seater alfresco table overlooking the garden and pool, with its wonderful views, or the equally spacious table located in the summer kitchen next to the pool.
Close GalleryThe master bedroom is found on the ground floor, accessed by two sets of French windows as well as the conventional interior passage. The bed is a king size (180cm) and the room enjoys its own dressing room and en-suite bathroom (pictured below). Accessories such as hair dryers are also available at the house.
