This gorgeous villa was built by a local architect using stones from a nearby quarry. When relaxing outdoors, you can enjoy full sun by the pool, or a covered terrace. The house is well removed from the road, on a large fenced and landscaped property offering complete privacy and comfort.
Main attractions in the area are hiking, cycling, visiting the beautiful villages and markets, and of course eating some delicious Provencal food at the marvelous restaurants dotted all over the region. Other attractions include tennis at the Goult tennis club, horseback riding, shopping and cinema in Cavaillon, Aix-en-Provence, Avignon and Marseille. The Mediterranean beaches are about 1.5 hours away. All the colorful Provence open-air markets (Gordes, Roussillon, Coustellet, Apt) are within 5 to 15 minutes of the house, as well as the local farmers market. Goult is 5 mn by car and offers all necessary shopping (butcher, baker, groceries, cafes, restaurants, and caterer). There are large supermarkets in Coustellet and Apt (10-25 minutes away). Don't miss the Abbaye de Senanque, a hike amidst the red rocks of the Petit Colorado, the summer operas and concerts of Lourmarin, la Roque-d'Anthéron, Orange, Aix and Avignon.
The villa has an expansive front patio, with a dining table on one side, and this comfortable seating area where you can relax and enjoy the views. If you're an early riser it's worth getting up at dawn to see the mist in the valley and the colour on the horizon - truly spectacular, and the valley is incredibly peaceful.
The large Provencal-style kitchen is pefect for those who love to cook. It is spacious, with room for everyone to help or just watch, and is very well equipped. Americans will feel right at home with U.S. cookbooks, measuring tools, and an ice dispenser in the frig.
You have quite a choice of indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy your meals: the back patio next to the kitchen, the kitchen itself, the indoor dining room (pictured above) or the outdoor dining table, protected from the sun.
The living room with lots of seating is next to the indoor dining area. The metal steps on the right lead upstairs to the office, with desks and internet access. Our own concierge will work with you if you would like an in-house chef or a private guide, and the English-speaking house-manager can also give you lots of local advice.
A more private seating area to watch satellite tv, or read a book. The house enjoys Wifi high-speed internet access, Satellite TV with CNN and other English-speaking channels (as well as German, Spanish, Italian), a separate clothes dryer, a charcoal BBQ grill, a pétanque game area.
Villa Maria is very spacious and accommodating. In most vacation homes there is a single, glorious master bedroom and then a series of smaller rooms. If you have several couples here then they all can have large, comparable bedrooms. Villa Maria has three king size bedrooms that could each serve as a master bedroom en-suite. The 3 large bedrooms in the main house are all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, King-sized (180 cm) beds, alarm/CD players, and air conditioning.
