Close GalleryIt's difficult to believe, looking at this photograph of La Maison at Caromb, that the property is located in the centre of a busy little village nestled in the foothills of the Mont Ventoux. Whilst you're in the house or relaxing in the garden you enjoy complete privacy, yet open the front door and you find local commerce at your finger tips. The local market at Caromb is every Tuesday, so make a note in your diary.

Close GalleryThe view from the second floor looking west. The countryside surrounds Caromb, and you can stroll out and take full advantage whenever you like. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the middle of lush Provencal countryside.

Close GalleryThe beautiful, terrace covered dining area occupies part of the spacious terrace dividing the house from the secure swimming pool area. This is a fantastic place to spend time outdoors, whether eating, reading or just chatting with good friends.

Close GalleryThe sitting room and interior dining area share the same large room. In practice this table doesn't tend to get used because it's so nice to eat outside under the vine covered trellis.

Close GalleryThe spacious sitting room offers comfort and sophistication. Four large arched windows ensure that light fills this room all day long. In the colder months the open fire complements the central heating system, giving a warm and cosy feel.

Close GalleryThe games room, where many a ferocious game of Scrabble have taken place. Warning, it's a French set !!! There's an open courtyard to the left of the games room which leads to the kitchen. This is a very calm place where you can make yourself comfortable and maybe read a good novel.

Close GalleryThe beautiful entrance hall provides a glimpse of the original house. Caromb used to be a chateau'd village, but the chateau was dismantled over the years following the French revolution in 1789. Many of the Caromb houses built in the nineteenth century were constructed using stone from the chateau, and sometimes this is evident when you see a worked piece of stone oddly fitting into a wall. The hallway is structurally unchanged in hundreds of years. This is evident when you see the bannister which which doesn't have a single weld holding it together! By contrast, the walk in lift is discretely accessible from here to all floors.

Close GalleryOn the second floor, which is of course easily accessible even to the mobility impaired thanks to the walk-in lift, there is this large open area which is ideal for youngsters to play indoors in complete safety. From here you have access to the en-suite master bedroom, a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The double and single share a bathroom.

Close GalleryOne of the en-suite double bedrooms on the first floor. This room has its own drawing room so arguably could be called the master bedroom, but I prefer the second floor en-suite bedroom which has its own terrace.

Close GalleryElegant is the word that best describes this en-suite double bedroom on the first floor - you immediately feel at home the moment you enter.

Close GalleryWhen the present owners renovated the house they spared no expense to ensure that the house feels authentically Provencal. The floor is laid with terra cotta tiles throughout (except for a couple of bathrooms) and all the doors and windows are antique.
This twin bedroom does not have en-suite facilities. Technically it shares this bathroom with a single bedroom also on the first floor, but the single bedroom does not form part of the sleeping arrangements. All Images are © Copyright Emotional Escapes Ltd.

In fact Lac du Paty is a dam, created during the mid 1700's, it has, over the centuries, enhanced the quality of life for the neighbouring farms and villages alike. Originally used for agriculture as well as pleasure, Lac du Paty is a five minute drive from Caromb.
