Close GalleryThis photograph was taken from under the wisteria covered pergola outside the kitchen's French doors looking across the valley to the beautiful hilltop village of Venasque which clings to a rocky peak overlooking vineyards, garrigue and cherry trees. Venasque is officially classified as un des plus beaux villages en France. Historically the village was a medieval settlement, but today the remains of the ramparts and three Saracen towers are all that remains as evidence of those bygone times. The village has a small epicerie and a bar/snack, but Mallemort-du-Comtat, which is a 5 minute drive from Aqua Vita, has a mini-market and other local commerce. Carpentras is a 10 minute drive from the property where you ought to find all the commerce you may require. -
