Due to the presence of important religious authorities in Venasque over the centuries since the 6th centruy. The town has a rich heritage of religious sites such as he 13th church; chapels and Notre Dame de Vie Institute.

Perched within the rock face of the Vaucluse mountains, with the valley of the Nesque below Venasque richly deserves its classification amongst the Most Beautiful Villages in France. The town is surounded on all side by medieval ramparts.

Venasque has a beautiful forest surrounding it, with picturesque trails and several shepherds dwellings made out of rocks piled together without mortar to create distinctive domed shepherds huts called "bories".

The gorgeous Fontaine de Vaucluse and the Nesque Gorge are also very near if you follow the mountain pass from Methamis. Each year the village hosts a series of art expositions in July-August.
